CARDO South Sudan has commemorated the World Menstrual Hygiene day 2021 in Bussere and Eastern Bank of Western Bahr El Ghazal State, where groups of young girls and women were given training on critical information about maintaining menstrual hygiene, basic GBV knowledge and they were also given some sanitary kits.
The day was celebrated under the Theme: “KICK THE SHAME”
Speaking during the event, CARDO Founder and Executive Director Mr. Orasio Opiyo encourage the participants to take the knowledge they received during training seriously and helps their colleagues and their neighbors. He urged participants to break the taboos surrounding menstruation, raise awareness about periods not to be shameful about it and understand the importance of good menstrual hygiene management. He also urged the young girls and women to reports GBV cases to the center, they should not shy away due to some cultural believes.
