CARDO Peace-Building team through IOM support, facilitated a series of sports events in Jur River County and concluded it in Achot Boma, among the sports carryout were tug of peace (Rope pulling), Running races, and Javelin Throw (Spear throw). “One of the running race winners mention that winning is not about high, or size, but it is about what we do to promote peace amount ourselves.”
Sport works primarily by bridging relationships across social, economic, and cultural divides within society, and by building a sense of shared identity and fellowship among groups that might otherwise be inclined to treat each other with distrust, hostility, or violence.
